IPL TREATMENTS

IPL for Vascular Lesions

Visible blood vessels on the face and body, including broken capillaries, spider veins and small vascular lesions, are often the result of sun exposure, genetics, skin trauma or conditions like rosacea. At KGA, we use IPL technology via the Cutera XEO system to precisely target these vessels and visibly reduce their appearance over time.

IPL works by delivering controlled pulses of light that are absorbed by haemoglobin within the vessel. This causes the vessel to collapse and gradually be reabsorbed by the body. The treatment is non-invasive, requires no downtime and is ideal for treating vascular concerns on the face, neck and décolletage.

Safely fades broken capillaries, spider veins and facial redness for clearer, calmer skin.

Pre & Post Treatment Care

Avoid direct sun exposure, self-tanning products and active skincare (including retinol and acids) for 5 to 7 days before treatment. Do not wax or undergo facial treatments in the week leading up to your appointment. Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin.

Following treatment, the treated area may appear flushed or slightly darker as the vessel responds to the light. This usually settles within a few days. Avoid hot showers, alcohol, vigorous exercise and skincare actives for 48 hours. Keep the area moisturised and protected with high-SPF sunscreen to support healing and prevent further damage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Vascular lesions are visible blood vessels on the surface of the skin, including broken capillaries, spider veins and telangiectasia.

The light energy is absorbed by the blood within the vessel, causing it to heat, collapse and slowly disappear as the body clears it.

You may feel a brief, warm snap with each pulse. Most patients find the treatment tolerable and the cooling feature on the Cutera XEO adds to comfort.

Most vascular lesions require 2 to 4 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart. Some finer capillaries may respond after just one treatment.

Common treatment areas include the cheeks, nose, chin and décolletage. IPL can also treat some vascular lesions on the legs and body.

Treated vessels do not return, but new ones can form. Ongoing sun protection and avoiding triggers can help prevent recurrence.

IPL is safest on lighter skin tones. We assess your skin thoroughly in consultation to ensure safety and suitability.

Results are often visible within 2 to 4 weeks as vessels begin to fade. Full clearance may require multiple sessions.

You may experience mild redness or darkening of the vessel, which resolves on its own. There is no significant downtime.

We combine evidence-based technology with deep clinical expertise. Every treatment is customised to safely address vascular concerns while maintaining your skin’s overall health.
